This weekend I had planned to dress the girls up and take them to the park for photos. It has been on my to-do list for a few weeks now, and I'm trying to squeeze it in before the weather becomes deplorably hot.
Once again, I wasn't able to follow through. I favored being at home this weekend, relaxing on the couch and watching the Preakness with my girls, who love horsies and who watched and cheered them on with intensity.
We played with our toys, swam in the pool, and ate dinner together at home - TWICE - as a family. I can't remember the last time we didn't eat at least one weekend dinner out.
And, as much as I would love to take photos of the girls at the park, when it comes down to it, I think I want more photos that remind me of moments like this:
A tiny tot sitting at a high top table, legs too short to even come close to touching the footrest. A snack time where Mrs. Potato Head is the honored guest, as well as a doggie who is waiting patiently for a Cheerio to hit the floor. A moment that is real, a moment that was made at home, a moment that is just a day in the life of a toddler...a moment that I will miss desperately 10 years from now.
And, although, I still want to take pictures in the park, I am finding that the simple photos of simple moments taken in our most treasured spot in the world, have much more meaning and value to me than photos taken in a park.
I am in love with my world (and the glorious natural light that flows through my house).

I agree with you. Such sweet shots Carol. They grow up so fast.
I am loving the 'everyday' precious shots that you have been taking. Although pretty dresses in the park will be great, these are much sweeter! Love that there is always an honored guest at meals. Glad you had a great weekend and hopefully a good week ahead!
Yes! Truly precious moments, perfect pictures capturing it all. No need for all the primping at a park ;)
You take the best pictures Carol! <3 your girls!

I am in love with that first photo of Chloe! It's awesome :) And you are right, why not capture all those special memories in the place you call HOME. :)
I love those kind of photos too!
These are way better than park pictures... way better.
And what a beautiful world it is! :) Thank you for this post. I have been driving myself crazy trying to get "official" pictures of Braxton every few months. But I have TONS of everyday picks that in the end will mean way more to me. :)
